slightly different hardware while being the same can
make a bit of a difference, heck look at some of the IIgs software
that ran fine on a 00 and 01 but not a 03, or software that required
a rom 01 or above too run. the said software that had issues on a 03
had to be patched to run on a 03.
slight firmware changes. bigger, patched or what have you can make it
to where it will have quirks with some things.
slight hardware changes will also do the same thing.
although the IIe and IIc are both 8 bit systems that are compatible
with each other they are different in a few aspects that can make
them different beasts altogether.
Like A2Aviator said There is more to it then moving stuff around. it
would be better to patch the said software to work on a IIc then too
mess around with the IIc's hardware or firmware (from my take on it).
