What kind of cable? If only two appletalked devices, a printer
cable (GS/Mac to IWII) will do fine. A modem cable will not work, nor
any cable that doesn't implement all the pins. If more than 2 devices,
go with the phonenet type connectors.

Not until you tell it to, via the Appletalk-related control panels.
Once you establish a connection, then you can set it to appear
automatically on boot.
