I could've sworn this was in the FAQ...are you sure it was the
comp.sys.apple2 FAQ you read?  About any external modem should work,
but a //c is limited to 14.4, or if you have the old model //c, maybe
even less.

The FAQ has a big list of Apple // stores, and it probably says where
to get a cable.  You'll probably want ProTerm, which went for about
$80, last time I looked.  You may be able to get along with cheaper
programs, like MouseTalk and ReadyLink.
