Re: AE RamKeeper
I have a "MemorySaver" by Checkmate Technologies, Inc. After
reading the descriptions of AE's product, I'm led to believe
that AE bought the technology from Checkmate. Anyhow, does
anybody know if the software for it is on the net? If it isn't,
can some kind soul E-mail me a copy? Many thanks in advance.
Here's a few key features I've found in the manual. Maybe some
of them have changed since AE's version?
. The MemorySaver provides power to the RAM card(s), not the
//gs supply (with one exception). This lightens the load on
the //gs supply.
. The MemorySaver can tap one of three different sources of
power, it automatically chooses the one with the highest
voltage. Under "ideal" conditions, it's running from the
external "brick" power supply, which runs at around 9 volts.
The next choice of power is the NiCad batteries, at around
7.2 volts. Lastly, is the //gs's 5 volt supply.
. If you use two RAM cards, the //gs's control panel might have an
incorrect value for total memory. This value will be more than you
actually have on the cards. Often, the MemorySaver can't "seamlessly"
re-map the cards together causing a gap between them. This gap is
marked as in use, so the //gs will always have the correct value for
available memory.
