Card info needed
I recently rescued a //e containing three cards I have not previously
encountered. I'd like to tap the expertise of the group to obtain
enough information to make them useful, if possible.
The first card is an aux slot card: the Microsoft Premium SoftCard //e,
a 12 MHz Z80 card. I have other Z80 cards, and their CPM systems,
but I do not know what the Premium SoftCard //e offers, specifically.
I note that it has 64 KB on-board, and a jumper labeled "super hi-res
on/off" which I take to be the double hi-res jumper found on some aux
slot memory cards, so I assume that it also serves as a 64 KB aux mem
card.
Will this card run my existing CPM software on a //e? Is there a special
CPM system for this card which offers additional space/features/etc.?
I guess it's too much to hope for that it might be compatible with a
ZipChip... ;-/
The second card is a full-size "IC Test Card", copyright 1984 by Yih Lung.
The card has a potted portion (shades of the Hayes MicroModem II) which is
about 3" square. It also has two variable resistors near the front. What
is their function? It also has a 20-pin header, most likely to connect to
an IC test socket. Does anyone have info on the wiring from this header
to the presumed socket? How does the card operate? Does it require
"external" software, or it it self-contained?
The third card is a "runt." It is about 1.5" x 4" and is completely
potted.
It is labelled "The SMART System--Securities Market Analysis Reporting and
Transaction System" and "Software Enhancement Card--Hans Dehne, Serial
number: 1152." Most likely guess is a slot-based "dongle" to enable
running
the aforementioned securities software, but it may contain something
useful.
Does anyone know?
Thanks for any info in advance! (Please reply by email as well, since I
don't get to read this group regularly.)
