Guessing here...But I'll bet the TLC *is* based on IIGS technology,
specifically the Mega-II chip. I'm pretty sure the Mega-II is the reason
that...
...the IIgs can do a darned good job of emulating a ][e
...the Apple II card for the Mac LC emulates a ][e
...the TLC acts like a ][e
As I understand it, the Mega-II is essentially a ][e-on-a-chip less the
CPU, memory, and video (and possibly ROM). So building a new ][e based on
the Mega-II becomes a fairly simple exercise compared with building new
IIgs's.
