gz2zip app

 Guenter@student.Uni-Kl.De speculated:

GUKD| You can't decode them on an AppleII. 'gz' means gzip which is a
     | popular unix compression scheme. If you have access to an unix
     | host, you may 'gunzip' them there.

Au contraire! Tom Larson of 2qwk! fame has written an app called
"gz2zip" which takes care of all this. I can't attest to how well it
works -- have only tried using it once and found from other people that
the GZ I was trying to work with was corrupt in the first place -- but
there *is* a GZ utility for the Apple. gz2zip 2.0 is not yet available
widely; he's going to mail me the latest version since he doesn't have
access to a real server presently, then I'll pass it out.

*plug* And at that same time, 2qwk! 2.04 will be rolling out...
