With GNO/ME on the GS and a bunch of aliases, 4DOS on a PC (and
ports of a lot of unix progies, and unix (Linux at home, Solaris on
visi.com), all act roughly the same. All use / as the directory
separator. All use cd, mv, rm, cp, etc. I run emacs under Win95 (yes,
there's a port) and unix; a set of Edit-16 keybindings make it
somewhat similar. All have 'less' for viewing files. All have similar
commandline editing tools. The keyboards on all of them have keys
(mostly caps/control nowadays, but also inverted-T arrow layout, etc)
in the same places.
Computers are not decorations, they are not there to put a lot of
fluff in the way. They are there to do work, and if something of
theirs is getting in the way, I'll change it until it it's not.
