I've been tempted to do the same, although no one has mentioned
whether the Sirius RAM card will successfully DMA with 5, 6, 7 or
8 MB of memory on the board. If you must disable DMA in order to use
the extra memory, it is simply not worthwhile in my opinion. Reports
have been that the CV/Sequential board cannot do it, so what about
the Alltech board?

In my own experience, 5.125 MB has been adequate in my ROM 3.
With all the bells and whistles I've added to GS/OS, I still have
about 3.6 MB of free memory. The only time I've run out of memory,
or rather had to shift-boot for more, is attempting to load huge
digitized sound samples (i.e. 4-5 megabyte large) or abnormally
large GIF/JPEG images. Otherwise I haven't felt a need to upgrade
my memory, and as of yet, there's still no software for the IIgs
that requires more than (at best) 4 MB.
