     If there is a GS utility for converting 500-line Apple Preferred pics
to GIF, BMP, etc., I have not come across it. (Does your scanner software
include a super-APF display utility?)

     One try is to move the pic to a PC and see if a PC utility will do
the conversion. Deluxe Paint II's Convert utility will do PCX and LBM <-->
Apple II conversions. It may be able to handle a 500-line APF pic.
