There's a thing called the "idle client" which we tend to have which is
when you're off doing other stuff while your client is still logged in.
It's typical of AOL users and others lacking in the clue department to say
"HELLO? CAN ANYONE HEAR ME?!" and assume that everyone is paying attention
to them when in fact they are not.

There's also the possibility that Nate was taking the high road and
ignoring your TCP/IP Stack Nazi schpiel (a frightening onslaught), but
Nate likes a good flamefest too much for that. :)
