HD=High Density. Refers to the magnetic properties of the disk, in
addition to the storage capacity. Because the same disk area must hold
more bits in the high density form, the magnetic properties must be
able ot hold a field in a smaller area. Thus, for 1.2MB (HD) 5.25"
disks, the disk coating is different than Double Density.-- it has a
higher magnetic flux. With all this, the Apple II's 5.2" drives can't
read/write reliably to it.
