I don't know if this will help, but our User Group had an excellent demo
of the Epson Stylus 800 connected to the GS and using both GS/OS and
ProDOS 8 programs. The highlight in terms of a "compatibility torture
test" for the 800 was printing the Beagle Bros. logo using Triple Dump.
Epson Inc. does excellent Epson "emulation" ;-)
