Over the years, I have been keeping track of ways to hook up one of my
various Apple IIs to the Internet by simply connecting it via a serial
port directly to a PC or Mac and essentially making the Apple a dumb
terminal.
In your case, assuming you connect your Apple to a computer that has
the command-line tools to FTP, telnet, IRC, Lynx, and such, then you
can use your Apple II on the Internet in all sorts of ways.
My bookmark list has the following web pages of other people who are
slaving their Apple II to either a Mac or a Linux box for connectivity
to the Internet in various forms. Maybe one of them will help you on
