I tried this at one time with no luck. But, someone (sorry I forgot
your name) e-mailed me and said that they have had similar problems
using a 7MB Sirius GS card in a ROM 3. The Sirius GS setup for a
ROM 3 is to leave the _first_ SIMM slot empty and fill the remaining
7 with SIMMs. Apparently, this can cause problems like I have been
experiencing. So, his solution was to put a SIMM module in the first
slot as well. This SIMM isn't recognized on the ROM 3 but he said it
has helped him with strange file copying behavior from within the
Finder.
So, I've put a SIMM in the first slot on the Sirius GS. I'll also
retest the DMA on/off with my Apple HS SCSI and see if this also
has a factor.
This sure is a strange problem though. I'd say that 90% of the programs
I've installed have run without a hitch. Then, some don't work and
others won't install correctly due to the strange copying phenomenon
I describe in the original post.
Thanks for the suggestions!
