That's the problem. There is no TCP connectivity for IIs. So the only way to
use 'em to get online is via direct dialup to a host. If you go directly to
PPP handshaking as soon as you log on to your ISP, there's no way to use your
II with that provider. The one I use was that way when I signed up but changed
after a few months. They made it where you can go to the PPP server or to a
shell when you log on. Maybe my complaining helped out some.
