Get a $24. per year text account with the Chebucto Community Net in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. You then just dial in (via a long distance unlimited calling package from your local phone provider) and use your IIc to your heart's content. For $24. per year, you get 56k, ZModem and Kermit uploading, downloading, ftp, gopher, telnet, ssh (secure telnet), the Lynx internet text browser, homepage space, file storage, PINE e-mail, 25,000 newsgroups via PINE or TIN and more, with VT52, VT100, VT220 or VT320 (plus AnSI and others) emulation.

There are a number of II/+/c/e/GS (as well as C64/128, Atari XE/ST, older Mac, older PC, Tandy/TRS80/Color Computer etc) enthusiasts currently doing this from around the globe. Simon Williams, who also posts in csa2 can probably fill you in on the phone package he uses. I'm local to the community net so I can't help you there.
