     Perhaps, Apple is waiting for the new IIe compatibles to 'make a
splash' before licensing GS cloning rights. Or, maybe, the idea is to
soften up the home market at the bottom end before introducing its own
high-end II series product (e.g. GSX).

     It is also possible that the company wants to hold onto GS as
insurance. If their strategy calls for a 'soft exit' from Mac production
and if this plan falls through, then Apple may need to play its 'GS card'.

     Meanwhile, a flock of cheapo high-integration PC's is fixing to hit
the scene. When you toss in the imminent arrival of comet Hale-Bopp and
contact with alien space beings, we are in for an interesting 1997.
