Sorry, just one LED, not two (I was confusing it with the ZIP).

In the manual, it is only mentioned in the troubshooting section.  It is
supposed to go on briefly after the computer is turned on.  If it is
blinking continuously or stays on, then the card isn't inserted
correctly or is faulty.

I'd have to run the computer with the lid off and watch what it does
during normal operation.  This isn't very easy, because I don't have any
clear desk space to put the monitor nearby.  I suspect it is activated
whenever the computer communicates with the processor on the card, thus
for all I/O transfers and most SmartPort calls.
