    That would probably be Disk Disintergrater Deluxe (or often called
"DD.DeLuxe"). It was written by Louis Roy, from right here in Montreal,
Quebec, Canada.

    I don't recall a GS-specific version, though incidentally, I do
remember version 5.0 was the final update. DD.DeLuxe was a popular
disk-archiving program back in the 80's, it was quite common before
ShrinkIt became the defacto standard (*.DDD or *.DD archives). Mind
you, it was the defacto standard for sometime in the modem world.
It did offer disk-optimization in later versions, among other things.

    It was shareware, no need to get it reclassified. I very much doubt
the author is expecting shareware fees all these years later, so most
likely (but not officially, unless I can find out) it is probably now
a freeware application. Either way, it can still be distributed freely.

    I still have version 5.0, probably version 4.x as well floating
around here somewhere. If it's not available on any FTP sites, I can
upload a copy. Keep in mind though it should not be used for making
public archives, it is no-longer-supported archiving format. About
as defunct as *.BNY, *.BQY or *.BLU. ;-) (Although at least those
latter obsolite packing schemes are still supported by ShrinkIt, DDD
is not).
