Disk ][ Face plates and Drive Number Stickers

Hi all!

After purchasing, and successfully testing, a pair of Apple
Service spares/returns Disk II chassis from eBay, I noticed a
burgeoning problem with my "Drive 2" Disk II. Since I used its
analog board to test them, I had it open, and saw that the plastic on
the faceplate above the drive door has cracked all the way through on
one side, and is nearly so on the other.

I have a spare Disk II faceplate in great shape. Alas, it has a
wonderful "Drive 1" metal sticker plate on it. I've always had (even
though I don't really need ;-) the "Drive 1" and "Drive 2" stickers on
my drives. But my question is: How can I transplant the metal
stickers without damaging them?

I'm quite sure they're very hard to come by nowadays, and I'd
rather keep them on the correct drives, if at all possible. I'd
settle for repairing the cracking plastic, but I've never been able to
do it in a way that wasn't messy or involved gluing my fingers
together. ;-)

I guess this will teach me to be very gentle from now on, when
opening and closing the drive door. >_<
