Serial device interface, X-10 for the Apple II

Does anyone have (or know where to get) some X-10 control software or
other automation software for the Apple II line, including the IIGS?

Also, how could I make a device that would have many sensors (or relays,
etc.) connected to it, and it would have addresses for them or
something, but what I want to do is have a few of these devices on a
serial line from the computer.  Is there a way to address(?) them or
accomplish this?
