Dear John,
Simply transfer a text file (which ProDOS recognises as such)
from ProDOS to a MacOS volume and examine its type and creator. Type
should be "TEXT" and creator "pdos", whether you use the DOS File Exchange
cdev or the ProDOS File System extension.
Using the same utility you used for examining the file you
transferred from ProDOS, change BINSCII.EXE's type to "TEXT" and creator
to "pdos", then transfer to ProDOS. That way, ProDOS should recognise
BINSCII.EXE as a TXT file.
If you are not using it, I think it is time you got yourself
Snitch, a cdev which adds the ability to view and change a file's type
and creator through the info window (cmd-i). You can get it from an
Info-Mac site near you, and is shareware ($20), but to me it is worth it
:-).
Finally, do have a word with your sysadmin, will you? You cannot
expect people to reply by e-mail to an incorrect address :-(.
I hope this posting helps you. Yours sincerely,
