In several ways, this is true. However, Apple //s have something that
PCs will NEVER have. Apple was founded (it has since changed) on the
principles of two Steves...one (two?) of which were member(s) of the
Homebrew Club...The club's philosophy is embedded (in part) in the
Apple //s. IBM & MS have always been, and always WILL BE
money-grabbing stiff boring entities in business suits. Apple //s may
not have a great bod, but they have the heart. There's no heart in a
PC. Also, what percentage of professional PC programmers can program
well in assembly? Compare this figure to the percentage of
professional Apple // programmers that can.
How long does it take for a PC to break? How long for an Apple //?
My //c lasted 10 years so far, and shows almost no signs of wear.
Ditto for the unenhanced //e I got a coupla years ago.
The increase of power in computers has directly led to the death of
good games. Pacman, Space Invaders, Pong, Pole Position, and all
their spin-offs will outlive ALL games made nowadays. "Absolute
{computing} power corrupts {stuff made for computers} absolutely."
