Incidentally, can the Apple IIgs system-beep (that "thunk")
be reproduced by toggling an 8-bit Apple IIe/IIc speaker? I know
the "thunk" and 14 other tone pitches are independant of the
Ensoniq, but they sound a little too complex to be identical
to simple speaker toggling. Ensoniq aside, I seem to recall
the GS being able to do a few more tricks with speaker toggling
(Ensoniq DOC aside :) than an off the shelf Apple IIe. Is this
true?

If an 8-bit II can reproduce the "thunk" of the GS, I'd love
to see a little application that does so (pitches too of course)
just for the sake of it. :-)
