If there's anyone with the old VGC who wants to upgrade, I might swap one of
my spare logic boards with ROM 01 and the -C VGC for a board with the old
VGC. Better yet if the board has ROM 0 still but I have a ROM 0 chip on hand
already.

Not all old VGCs have the problem - I stupidly got mine upgraded even though
it worked fine on logic board #6. The reason I went up to six was because I
had bad VGCs on the replacements after the original board went bad, and I
kept taking it back and bitching. My IIgs' 90 day warranty lasted upwards of
six months. I guess you can say I did my part to get the problem fixed.
