100% correct.  People can ignore the unwritten rules of society.
(or even the written ones.  "Read the FAQ" is in the Emily Postnews
article in the "newusers" newsgroup.  It is as firmly embedded in
netiquette as any concept can be.)

When you ignore societial convention, society tends to show its
disapproval, to one extent or another.  Deal with it.  If it makes
it any easier for you to do so, just remember that other people
are exercising their "free liberties".

In California, people have been shot while driving because they
did something stupid and annoyed the wrong driver.  Makes a curt
admonission to "RTFFAQ" seem pretty mild, doesn't it?
