apple //c, which version?

i got 4 //c's for $20 with the bricks on a rope missing though. anyway,
two worked, one didnt but i reseated things and it worked, and one with a
doa power supply. while i was dismantling two of em, i noticed the case
designs are different; on one model, the plastic peice over the ports in
the back is a separate part with tabs that break off easy and on the other
that same back panel is molded into the top cover which makes a more
sturdy design. based on this, which model is newer or would have the 32k
rom upgrade? also can someone gimme the poke command for determining if
3.5 drives are supported. i cant access the faq unfortunately. .
