You underestimated it:


"Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin
      against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? 
 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until
      seventy times seven."
 - Matthew 18:21,22 (KJV)


It also says:

"Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear."
 - 1 Timothy 5:20 (KJV)

(In other versions, this is translated as "that continue to sin".
 Elsewhere (can't find the reference) it states that at first, elders
 should confront the individual *privately* (email? (-: ) and only later
 escalate.)


Clearly, there is a difference between forgiving someone of their sins,
and being tolerant of the sin itself.  Rebuke, but forgive.  Turley is
well into the realm of rebukes.  We must forgive him his past offences,
but he should be repentant before we call him "friend".
