AppleWorks "Can't Save" error

I have //e's is my fourth grade class. Every so often one of the
kids will go to save Appleworks data and they get the "Can't Save on
Disk In Drive 2" message even though they have saved the same document
minutes before. I'll check the disk and find the AW Temp file which I
delete (sometimes I'll reformat the disk) but it still won't save in
either drive or on any disk.
If I try to PRINT the file to disk it asks for the AppleWorks
program disk in drive one but just keeps asking for it no matter what
AppleWorks I put in.
Is this a disk drive problem or a software problem? Also does
anyone know the keystroke routine to recover a hung up Appleworks?
Control-Reset just takes me to the prompt but I believe there is a
proceedure after that that will go back to the file. I'm using
AppleWorks 2.1 with no TimeOuts.
    Thanks, Mike
