Re: Pre-Asimov Apple image archives

I'd be very interested to learn the motivation behind fighting a
site the holds pirated Apple II games. I mean, really, if someone wants to
play Castle Wolfenstein (2-D) or Autoduel, or some silly adventure game that
couldn't make distinctions between the "look", "examine", and "search"
commands, and they get it for free from an ftp site, where's the capital
loss there to anyone? Who is turning a profit by selling Apple II games?
Were the parties interested merchants who are so small-time that nobody (or
at least I don't) knows about them? or are they just anti-pirate dudes that
are indignant because of the principle of such an ftp site?
I thought that this stuff would get too old too quickly. Take for
instance this Broderbund C-64 game that I have: "The Castles of Doctor
Creep". The disk eventually corrupted, and I couldn't play the game any
more. I tried to get a replacement from Broderbund, but they told me that it
wasn't available any more, and this was something like 5 years after I got
the game. I would think that if software get old that quickly that there is
no de facto problem with putting copywritten Apple stuff on an ftp site.
