The SuperDrive mech (like the 800k AppleDisk3.5 mech) can be connected
-without- a daisychain board to the IIgs SmartPort by using the cable
from an AppleDisk3.5 assembly. BUT this will not give you an activity
LED or an electrical eject other than software based. Also it will work
only at 800k. (Good to get an idea of drive condition though :)

The SuperDrive mech can be -directly- used to replace the 800k mech
in an AppleDisk 3.5 assembly (but NOT a UniDisk 800k assy). It bolts
right in, and plugs right in.

To use it on a IIgs as a SuperDrive (instead of as 800k only) you need
to get a SuperDrive interface card for the IIgs. Shreve Systems has
been selling these recently for something like $75 or $89 each. (a
good price IMHO)
