Ten years young, the Apple IIgs is. Saw my first one at a user group
meeting in October 1986. I went on the waiting list at a local dealer a
month later. Finally got it in February 1987. A fantastic machine for the
bargain price of just over $3000. It included 512k memory (who would ever
need more?), RGB monitor, 5.25" and 3.5" drives, and that new-fangled ADB
keyboard and mouse.
It was a ROM0. It came with the "MouseDesk" disk and the original "Tour of
the IIgs" disk. Let's forget about those two disks, eh?
That original IIgs is still sitting in my primary works space, and is on 24
hours a day. I've never had a problem with it. Of course, it's been
upgraded, with three SCSI hard drives and 4.25 megs. I've also added two
Macs to it, as peripherals, accesed over the AppleTalk network. It has two
net printers, too: A LaserWriter 320 and AppleTalk ImageWriter.
Apple II forever.
