It's a GS emulator.  It prolly supports the GS built-in clock.

Good point!  And P8 supports it.

The GS clock provides the year, doesn't it (so CLOCK.PATCH isn't
needed)?

I'm at a loss as to why P8, running in Sweet 16, would fail to
properly time-date stamp files, as viewed by a CATALOG.
