Dave,

At virtually anytime you can simultaneously press the following keys to
access the text based Classic Desk Accessory (CDA) menu. One of the options
will be the Control Panel. Under control panel you will find a 'system speed'
selection.

Alternatively, press and hold the OPTION key while powering on the IIgs. This
will provide you access to the control panel as well.

You may want to get a copy of the comp.sys.apple2 FAQ which contains a lot
of info which could be of help.
