I would highly recommend METAL running with FutureVision. It is an
8-bit program. Supposedly, there was once some 16-bit version in
development (I think), but I don't believe it has been released.

You can download METAL and FutureVision from
galadriel.ecaetc.ohio-state.edu. It is freeware. However, I can
guarantee that you will have a *lot* of problems getting it to run
correctly as is. Turn to the newsgroup alt.bbs.metal for help.
