A 300i won't work so hot, it's the internal version. There are people using 
300e's though. Actually a CD150 is a better choice for a IIgs since the
system software supports it out of the box, including playing audio CDs.
Single speed is plenty fast for a IIgs and these are really cheap nowadays.
