HELP - IIGS & binscii

Hello all,
A friend and I have been trying for a week now to do dowload
ONE file, and I've run out of ideas, so I'm hoping that one of you can
solve the mystery. What I'm trying to do is get a vt100
communications program onto my GS. We found some they were encoded
with shrinkit, and in order to get that we need Binscii.
Unfortunatly, we can't get Binscii.txt to work.
The problem is that no matter what we do, the GS won't read the
file. We are using the finder on a Mac running system 7.5.3r2 to
download and copy the file, and we have also tried downloading it onto
an IBM, then using the mac to copy it to a Prodos disk, Nothing
works. We have tried formatting the disks on both the Mac and the GS
(with both 4:1 and 2:1 formats on the GS). We have tried the fork
extractor on every combination of the devices listed above. We have
tried copying the file from the 3.5 drive to the 5.25 on the GS....
even different versions of Prodos.
What we get as an error is: (oh, we've been following the
instructions from question #7 on Nathan Mates FAQ)

RENAME BINSCII.TXT,BINSCII.ORIG

 I/O error

We tried to bypass the first step and got:

BLOAD BINSCII.TXT,A$2000,T$00,L5645

 FILE TYPE MISMATCH

We DO get the correct file sizes as stated in the FAQ for both
the Mac and IBM downloaded files. I have no idea what esle to try.
If anyone has any ideas, PLEASE HELP!
Or, as an alternative, if anyone is willing to send me a GS
disk with Binscii, and maybe any other files I need on the path to
colorterm or freeterm or whatever, I would be overjoyed, and I'd even
send you a disk in return and pay for shipping... or a disk to begin
with for that matter.
									Thanks for any help.
