I think you can use a normal serial cable, but you have to set the slot
to AppleTalk. For example, put the cable into the Modem port, set slot 2
to "Your Card" and slot 7 to "AppleTalk" (with a ROM 01 GS).
The LaserWriter plus works with a GS, I have seen it.
And with LaserBeam, available from Ego Systems, you can download Postscript
files and fonts and turn off the test page.
