I assume you have a ROM 1 IIgs. On a ROM 3, you don't need to set slot
7 to AppleTalk - just slot 1 or 2.

On a ROM 1, if you already have a card in slot 7 and want to use
AppleTalk, then move the card to slot 1, set slot 1 to "Your Card" and
set slot 7 to "AppleTalk".

This will work for any card EXCEPT a character-based I/O card (e.g.
parallel or serial card). It is fine for disk controllers, SCSI cards,
etc.

(Assuming you have set slot 1 to "Your Card", the AppleTalk firmware
uses the slot 1 screen holes, which prevents you from using most
character-based I/O cards in that slot.)

If you already have a card in slot 1, then you will have to move your
slot 7 card to slot 2 and lose the modem port.

The ROM 1 IIgs works out which port is actually being used for AppleTalk
as follows:

- If slot 1 is set to "Your Card", then the printer port is used for
AppleTalk (no matter how slot 2 has been set).

- If slot 1 is set to "Printer Port" and slot 2 is set to "Your Card",
then the modem port is used for AppleTalk.
