I had this same problem.  Kermit requires a different SSC switch setting
from all other programs I have used.  You have to turn ON interrrupts (I
think this is switch 6 in switchbank 2).  Why Kermit needs this and other
programs don't I don't know, but it is true.  

If you already tried this, I give up.  If not, and this works, I want a prize.
