zipgs oscillator

After reading about accelerating the Zip GS by replacing the Oscillator, I
removed the ZipGs from my GS to have a closer look. I found the oscillator
quickly and noticed that, printed on the board just above the oscillator, the
x1 and to the right of the oscillator is the a square outline, 2 holes and x2
printed on the right of this square. Does this mean that the ZipGS can accept
another oscillator or is it just for 2 pin oscillators as opposed to the
rectangular 4 pin oscillator?
