I've used PowerMacs that should have been reasonably powerful, weren't
on a "network" (i.e. ethertalk, localtalk, etc), but were slow
as crud with PPP running. PPP shouldn't slow down the system that much.
(responsiveness on the system with NO PPP running is about even with
my 12 MHz GS; with PPP running it's about even when I turn the Zip
down to .81 MHz)
