Aha!  Thanks for the correction.  I must have last tried this with
ClarisWorks 1.0 or 2.0.

(I'll be getting ClarisWorks Office 4 in the near future, so I can try it
again then.)

Snitch can do this as well.

Perhaps a little Mac "ProDOS File Type Setter" utility program might be useful?

(A simple user interface which provides fields to select standard ProDOS
file types and auxiliary types from pop-ups or by entering arbitrary
hexadecimal values, getting the database from GS/OS's FType.Apple file,
though distributing that file may require licensing...)

For that matter, why is there no software on the IIgs (that I know of)
which can display the HFS file type and creator (which are buried in the
extended key block)?
