ProDOS 8 is the regular ProDOS for 8-bit Apple IIs (][+, //e, //c,
IIc+) with a slightly fancier name. ProDOS 8 version 1.9 is the last
version that'll run on an unenhanced //e or 64K ][+; version 2.0 and
later require the enhanced //e, //c or IIc+.

Your local Apple II User Group should have a disk that they can
copy for free. It's also available as part of GS/OS; copy the 'P8'
file from the system folder of a GS/OS disk (not always present-- it
can be removed if it's not used and disk space is tight) to another
disk and rename it 'ProDOS'.

Apple should have a copy at its ftp site, ftp.apple.com,
dts/aii/sys.soft, but if you only have a 5.25" drive on your system,
unpakcking it can be a problem. IBM PC 5.25" drives are incompatible
with Apple II 5.25" drives at a hardware level, and you need (rare)
addon hardware to bridge the gap.
