Hi,
I bought a couple of GSRAM boards to play with (mainly to allow me to
play with a Ramkeeper and replace some Apple 1mb boards) and having
some strange issues i am hoping someone can help out on :).
The boards are GSRAM Rev D boards with GSC2A-Q and GSC1B-Q GAL chips,
so not ROM03 compatible. They are being tested on a bare ROM01 booting
from GS/OS 5.04 Floppy.
Both boards seem to be new and have 256K of chips (so bank A filled)
with 120ns DRAM. I installed some new ram to Banks B-D and the system
just crashes out when booting GS/OS. I removed everything but Bank A
and the system boots GS/OS fine and passes the memory tests fine using
megamemorytester. If i fill the board up to bank C it also boots fine.
It only seems to be when there are chips in Bank D on both cards. The
new DRAMs are 100ns instead of 120ns and even made sure all where
matching but same problem. I even pulled DRAM from Apple 1MB cards and
that also crashed, so don't think it is the DRAM that is the issue. I
suspect dodgy GSRAM cards, but before I throw them out the window ;)
does this ring a bell with anyone?
I know Henry sells the GSEB GALs, but was surprised to have issues on
a ROM01...
Thanks :)
