Ah, a truly classic Apple ][ game!

When you're on a level other than the lowest one on the screen, theres' some
key
you can hit (I think D for dig, but I'm not sure) to dig a hole.  You have to
be away from the ladders for this to work.  Keep digging until it gets all the
way through.  Dig enough holes, and the eventually the creatures will fall in
them and get stuck.  Then, stand next to the hole and use S for stomp to make
them fall through the hole and die.  Hurry, if you're too late, they climb back
out!!  You get more points if you line up several holes to make them fall
farther.
