I'm using one (Model UVSM9600/20000US/V1.1) right now :-) Try setting
your serial port speed to 19200. By enabling LAP-M compression, text
files can come through in blazing speed. :-) Also, try the following
init string:
AT&K4W1S36=5S38=2L1
