Apple CPM conversion

Dear folks at comp.sys.apple2,

I am a novice to Newsgroups.  I was directed to exploring here by a 
friend who is trying to help me with some file conversions.  I have 
some files that are stored on 5.25" Apple II CPM diskettes and it is 
important that I find some way of converting them to Macintosh or DOS 
text files on 3.5".  It will save many hours of work for a colleauge 
of mine.  We have been able to verify that the files exists and that 
they are in the Apple CPM format by using the System Utilities from 
the Apple //c (Check format and catalog).  I am not aware how to 
retrieve them apart from a software package on the PC called Uniform, 
which will only read Apple CPM with a special hardware card added to a 
system.  I am not sure whether that hardware is still available 
anywhere.  If there is anyone with some advice and direction for me it 
would be very much apprecited.  If possible, please email to
