My ZipGSX upgrades, part 3 :)
I didn't think it could be, but here I am... running at 12 Mhz. Rockin'.
This is just amazing... I never thought that I could be running a
"high speed" IIgs. It's worth it. Let me just say to everyone
who's running on a IIgs that =ISN'T= accelerated, you're missing out.
Majorly missing out. I used to think that my 7 Mhz Zip was fast... but
let me just say that 12 is better. I'm going to 14 as soon as I get the
right crystal (I happened to have a 48 Mhz crystal handy, but I ordered
a 14 Mhz processor).
Enough with that.
It's a very simple upgrade, provided you have the right extractor. Pop
out the old chip, pop in the new chip. Change the crystal. that's IT.
Suddenly, the IIgs just flies.
And... it's still booting about 3 times faster than the friend's PowerMac.
With a better interface, and of course... excellent native '816 power. :)
